Una Voce Returns to National Shrine

On the 11th of September 2021, Una Voce Scotland returned to the National Marian Shrine at Carfin Grotto to anticipate the glorious feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The altar was adorned with First Class Relics of the True Cross, ST Helena and other saints for a Votive Mass of the same dedication.

With the kind permission of His Lordship Bishop Toal, a Missa Cantata was celebrated by Fr Liam O’Connor of St Mary’s Cleland who was assisted by Schola Una Voce, our own choir.

Prior to Mass, the Holy Rosary was prayed and the faithful had the opportunity to receive the sacrament of penance thanks to Fr Monaghan of St Dominic’s Bishopbriggs and Fr Grant, guardian of the grotto.

Our last Mass at Carfin was in the evening and attracted many working people and young adults. This time around, the majority of the congregation were young families ( more than a dozen at last count) with many young children who enjoyed playing together afterwards in the beautiful setting of the grotto.

A fuller account will follow in our October Newsletter.

The morning was livestreamed by Sancta Familia Media and can be viewed HERE

Extraordinary Form at Carfin Grotto

I am delighted to announce that Una Voce Scotland plans to hold a Missa Cantata at Carfin Grotto on the evening of the 4th of June 2021. Fr James Grant, the guardian of the grotto, has extended a warm welcome to UVS and has graciously given permission for us to arrange this celebration on the First Friday of the Month of the Sacred Heart with a view to establishing a more regular provision of the Extraordinary Form at Carfin.

We await the changes to the restrictions on numbers and so at the moment, we ask you to save the date and we will release more information for those who would like to attend the Mass in due course.

Event: Sung Mass in Johnstone

We are very pleased to announce that UVS is organising a Missa Cantata in the Diocese of Paisley. At 12 noon on the 22nd of February, the feast of the Chair of St Peter, with the blessing of Bishop Keenan, Fr Byrne of St Brigid’s Toryglen will offer a sung Mass. The music will be provided by Schola Una Voce.

We are grateful to Fr Brady, Parish Priest of St Margaret’s Johnstone for inviting us.

Please spread the word and support this Mass. The Diocese of Paisley is currently the only diocese in Scotland without a regular Traditional Latin Mass.
